A servant of the Lord who served Africa

I have been informed that the servant of the Lord who served Africa Dr Robert Livingstone Foster has gone to be with the Lord and that he will be buried in Angola following the passing on of Dr David Livingstone whose heart was also buried in Africa 139 years ago, who said:

"It is the word of a gentleman of the most strict and sacred honour, so there's an end of it! I will not cross furtively to-night as I intended. Should such a man as I flee? Nay, verily, I shall take observations for latitude and longitude to-night, though they may be the last. I feel quite calm now, thank God."

On behalf of Africa Evangelical Church in Southern Africa, we deeply feel the loss and at the same time count ourselves privileged to have known Dr Bob. We give glory to God for the ministry he had in Africa. May his blood bring more fruit of souls who will be touched by the testimony that will be repeated to them for years to come of a man who was born in Zambia, went to Canada and came back to Zambia and Angola went to England and US (and came back to Angola).

Indeed the song writer said it beautifully when these words were penned down:

Oh the love that drew salvation plan
Oh the grace that brought it down to man
Oh the mighty gulf that God did span
At Calvary!

May our good Lord bring good memories and comfort to all the Foster family - Belva Foster, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister - Rhoda Lane, and indeed countless churches, missionaries called into service by God through his counsel, and many others who knew him.

Africa is being enriched once again by making indelible history of a dedicated life that had passion until death.

Praise be to God!

Rev Prince Mntambo, President
Africa Evangelical Church - South Africa and Swaziland
