To God be the Glory!

To Our Dear Friend, Mentor, Teacher and Co-Laborer in Angola and for the Lord:

When we think back over the many years we have known Bob and Belva and then the whole Foster family, it brings back so very many great memories.

Bob, we hope you are hearing this in Heaven, where surely you were welcomed with open arms and couldn't even carry the many crowns you received to lay at His feet. Our loss here is Heaven's gain!

Way back in 1968 when we went to the AEF Candidate School, Bob was the American Director and soon leaving to go to Angola for the first time.  We had heard his famous message on "Launch Out" and God touched our hearts and we were ready to launch!  We weren't sure that AEF was to be our mission, so we left Candidate School and went to work for the summer at the Ben Lippen Conference in Asheville, NC.

Little did we know that on top of that mountain so many AEF people would be the main speakers!  Bob, led the devotions, Peter Letchford and Stephen Olford (born in Angola) and others really challenged us and God used the verses in Hebrews 12:1 "...since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and the sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus..."  The witnesses were all the AEF people, and the weight was our sin of unbelief and just saying "yes!"

We were accepted into AEF up there on the mountain and have been rejoicing in this adventure ever since.  Little did we know that God would lead us to Angola where we lived for the first year at Cavango with the Fosters and Hockersmiths and our language teacher was Bob!  He was a spokesman, a leader, a teacher, a doctor, a preacher, a builder and a visionary.

You taught and showed us by example many lessons. We remember your dedication, focus, strong will, passion, fear of God and love for your family.  We are so thankful for those years of seeing you in action, and learning from you what missionary life is all about.

We are sure that the Angolans will share with all the family in a great celebration of Bob's life and his homegoing.  We wish we could be there with you all.  To God be the glory!

Our love and prayers are with you all!
