Dear Grandpa,
Not quite sure where to begin with this tribute or words but here are the few things that come to mind as I reflect on the man that you were.
My favorite memory with Grandpa was going to Cavango in the summer of 2006 to build a clinic with the simple instruction of don't let Grandpa get hurt or die! Haha.
That summer was one of the best times of my life as I witnessed daily what it meant to serve others and the Lord. Grandpa, at the age of 81, was waking up before me and constantly seemed to be busy either leading a Bible study, walking to the construction site, preparing a study, or walking somewhere. At the age of 16, I was barely keeping up and was humbled to see how a man who had already built 3 hospitals was still charging along determined to make a difference.
Yet he was not thinking about himself or his personal legacy but was concerned about the people of Cavango and Angola. Grandpa was blessed with extraordinary energy and he was constantly seeking to bless others. Throughout our time at Cavango, Grandpa always took time to share with me and pass on his wisdom. His model as a husband, father, and grandfather are ones that I will aspire too.
So as I sit here and write this I am filled with joy as I think of the great man that left this earth who is now dancing with angels and dad in heaven. Yet I am filled with sadness as that booming laugh and Godly man will not be there any longer in person but only in memory. His memory and legacy will live on forever and his example of faith I will never forget.
Grandpa THANK YOU for running your race so well and persevering to the end.Thank you for your wisdom and most importantly love for me at all times. Words don't do justice to how I feel, but you will always be remembered.
Your loving Grandson,
Daniel Foster Fabiano
